This method involves cleaning, dehydrating, and encapsulating the placenta in vegan capsules. This method preserves the placenta’s medicinal properties and provides greater hormonal release and energy boost. All preparation is restricted to temperatures between 115-160 degrees F around to maintain the vital enzymes and nutrients. Some indications for choosing fresh encapsulation would be: long labor, postpartum hemorrhage, desire to increase breastmilk, and energy immediately after the birth. As the placenta is only dehydrated and not heated, this method yields the most capsules and is the most common.
Commonly referred to ask Traditional Chinese Method (TCM), the hallmark of this method is the steaming step, which involves gently steaming the placenta with warming properties of lemon, pepper, and ginger. It is then dehydrated, ground, and put into capsules. In TCM theory, the process of labor and birth leaves a lot of open, empty space, which is considered very yin, or cold. Therefore, one major way we can promote healing during the postpartum period is to add yang energy via heat. Raw placenta is considered extremely cold, and therefore inappropriate for extended use during the first few months after birth. We therefore incorporate steam and warming herbs into the remedy, and the final result is believed to have tonifying, healing, and warming properties. This method does yield fewer capsules than the Fresh Method because of the added heat of steaming. It aids those who are sensitive to iron, hormonal supplements or prone to high anxiety.
Tinctures are always recommended in addition to encapsulation, to offer needed support when capsules are gone (4-6 weeks). Tincture provides the same benefits as the capsules, which are beneficial for all Mamas, and especially for those that struggle with anxiety or depression.
A small piece of raw placenta is put in 100 proof alcohol, able to be used at 6 weeks, when the capsules are typically all gone. Tinctures have an indefinite shelf life and are an amazing way to preserve the placenta benefits for life for Mama & Baby!
There are many benefits to ingesting the placenta raw and this is a very tasty, easy way of doing that. Small pieces of the placenta are blended with organic fruit and fruit juice, then frozen into cubes for easy blending.just tastes like a fruity smoothie!
This method provides approximately a week's worth of smoothie cubes to really kick start the healing process, reduce bleeding and give a boost of energy for the first week with your newborn.
Dehydration and/or SAFE preparation of your placenta (typically yields 100+ Capsules)
Placenta capsules are usually taken within the first 6 months postpartum; the tonifying, nourishing qualities of placenta are best suited to this long-term use, when the goal is to reduce postpartum depression, improve milk supply, or replenish the body after birth.
